The Wairarapa Coastline

First settled by Maori in the 1300s, the Wairarapa is situated in the south eastern corner of the North Island and is known for its spectacular coastlines, wide valleys and small towns.

The rugged Wairarapa coastline is largely unspoilt and along the shores you will find the Cape Palliser lighthouse,a NZ fur seal colony, the Putangirua Pinnacles, Ngawi fishing village and Lake Ferry. To the north lie the beach settlements of Castlepoint and Riversdale.

The water source for the Wairarapa is believed to be a mix of subtropical waters from the Southland Current and the D'Urville Current, which flows into Cook Strait from the west.

Known for it's pounding surf, Wairarapa beaches provide not only the ideal conditions to collect fresh seaweed but also an ongoing supply. Our team  collect only small quantities of seaweed to ensure minimal impact and disturbance of the ecosystem.
